Serving the Children of the World.®
Kiwanis is a worldwide community of clubs, members and
partners dedicated to improving the lives of children.

Community Service Activities

Each year Kiwanis members participate directly through their personal services in a number of community service programs, including the following:

Major Emphasis Young Children: PRIORITY ONE

This is a national Kiwanis program in which our cub participates in carrying out a number of projects to assist young children ages 5 and under.

Blood Drive

Our club members organize and conduct a blood drive at which our members and others donate blood for a local blood bank.

Coats for Kids

Each school year our club members contribute funds to provide coats for children who might not otherwise be supplied with these items.

Dictionary and Thesaurus Program

Area third and seventh graders are hand delivered a new dictionary or thesaurus for use in their school work. Members enjoy the smiles on their faces while making the special deliveries.

Ding-A-Lings (Salvation Army Bell Ringing)

Our club members join with others in ringing bells outside local businesses to obtain contributions at Christmastime to support the public service activities of the Salvation Army in our community.

Key Club

Our club members seek to organize and supervise youth Kiwanis community service organizations at the local schools.

Kiwanis Kid's Christmas

Our club members accompany needy children to the local Target store and assist them in picking out toys or other items for Christmas from funds provided by our club and by Target.

Our club members join with members of other organizations in an annual event that paints houses for persons in the city who could not otherwise afford to keep up their properties in this way.

School Nurse Program

Nurses are often in need of new clothing and personal items for students in their time of need. Kiwanis supplies nurses with the funds to buy the items at a moment’s notice.

Christmas in July

Providing an evening of fun for area children to attend a Burlington Bees ballgame and believe in the magic. Santa has been known to arrive on a Harley or even in a convertible.
